I am a retired pastor, alcohol and drug counselor, author, and trumpet player.  I was born and raised between the West Branch of the Susquehanna River and Pine Creek in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. I graduated from Jersey Shore High School, then Lehigh University (BA-political science) and Moravian Theological Seminary (MDiv) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. As a pastor in the Moravian Church, I served congregations in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. I received my Doctor of Ministry in pastoral care and counseling from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago andmy certification and license as a substance use disorder counselor in 1993. I have worked as a counselor in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Since 2007, I have worked at Mayo Clinic Addictions Services in Rochester, MN. I am married to Valerie, also a retired Moravian pastor.
